OUR STORY
Black Female Owned Business
iKunjalo Oils is the trading company under our parent company, iKunjalo Projects Enterprise, which was founded by Sindi Mnyandu in 2017 when she realized that there were no black women growing, manufacturing and supplying essential oils for export on a commercial scale in South Africa. Sindi was a specialist at Tongaat Hullets, dealing with SMME's in the farming industry, after exiting the sugar cane industry, she joined a development company which focused on developing and uplifting Agricultural Schools, SMME'S, and farmers with skills transfer and enhancement in science and technology.

SIndi started iKunjalo OIls from very humble beginnings, and is committed to the health and vitality of people, through ensuring that iKunjalo Oils provides reliable, sustainable, and pure essential oils throughout the value chain.

WHAT WE DO
At iKunjalo Oils we plant and source conventional, organic raw materials with full traceability and quality. At our partner farms we manage all aspects of the value chain from propagation, cultivation, manufacturing and, packaging to ensure sustainability, reliability and consistency in our high quality oils. Our products are sustainably grown to regenerate the soil’s nutrients, and produced with the planet in mind.
We sell iKunjalo Oil and Oil Powders in bulk to fully integrated brands and brand contract manufacturers and packagers who need high-quality ingredients for their supplements, emulsions, essential oils, beauty products, and natural agrotechnology products.

EMPOWERING FARM WORKERS & COMMUNITIES
As a company and a community, we are committed to supporting farmers in Africa who endeavor to become commercial farmers. Our Parent Company iKunjalo Projects Enterprise has partnered with local farmers where we plant organic Tea Tree. 40 permanent jobs are created per planting season, therefore over 200 jobs are created every 5 years. We have targeted increasing the presence of youth, women, people living with disabilities and empowerment of farm workers through profit sharing and providing financial stability.

Through training and capacity building a large percentage of employment will be absorbed by women, particularly in production, post harvest handling, labeling packaging and supply, in order to benefit from fully from the value chain.
